I'm ENGAGED!

Got youuuuu!

But the truth of the matter is,
I am in love with these sunglasses from Gage,
and you too should #GetEngaged.
They're vibrant, colorful, and trendy sunnies-
not for the faint of heart.
They're for adventurers, risk takers,
and statement makers.

I try and serve those all up daily!

 Gage Sunglasses, a local Long Island lifestyle brand
is not only responsible for the most comfortable pair of
"sunnies" that have ever graced my face with their nearly non-existent presence
(and I mean that in the best possible way,
they are so lightweight... but more on that later!)
but they also are dripping with some of the
dopest styles and color selections I've ever seen.
And you guys know me...
I get FANCY!

Each pair retails for $24.95
and currently are available in the 5 styles shown above.

As someone immersed in the world of marketing,
I consider myself a savvy consumer -
the product has to back the hype,
 or you'll hook the consumer to only lose them later.
The product must speak for itself.

While it's true Gage has some of the most enticing social media
I've seen to date ---
(one look at their Instagram account during the work day
will have you booking your next tropical vacation)
their product stands on its own.
Simply stated: These sunglasses rock.

The difference?
Each of Gage's frames are made from a relatively new material called TR90.
It's basically a thermoplastic material that truly delivers the goods!
It's extremely durable, flexible, and above all else, super lightweight.
I don't even feel like I have anything on my face!

I took the entire collection on a recent trip to the Outerbanks, N.C
and couldn't get over how lightweight, comfortable,
and [straight up] tight my "selfie" game was...ha ha!
They made it wayyyy too easy.

Check out some photos from my Instagram here:

If you couldn't tell, I was crushing on the Drifters & Poseidon models the hardest,
but they are all so fun!

While the company is a fresh, hip, forward-thinking brand,
their message also rocks.
"Life is all about the simple things that make us happy. Chillin’ on the beach with your friends and enjoying the good life. Seeking the thrills of an outdoor adventure on the slopes or riding the waves. Doin’ the things that spark your emotions and make you feel alive.
Now that’s exactly what we’re all about.
It’s all about building a culture of people who won’t let life pass them by. You’ll routinely see us using #goodvibes on our social media posts. Here at Gage, we embrace the game changers, the thrill seekers, and anyone who specializes in thinking out-of-the-box.
These are the true rock stars in life."
Who doesn't love supporting & buying products
from a company that projects such a positive lifestyle?

I'm a fan.

I just checked the website and everything right now seems
to be in stock - but they have a current LABOR DAY SALE
going on so I'm not sure how long that will last!

20% off until Monday, 9/7 ...
Use the code: LABORDAY20

For more info on Gage Sunglasses, visit their website.

Get social.
Show you're stylin' by tagging your cute "sunnies" selfies to

Disclaimer: Gage sent me these samples to try, but all opinions are my own.

See you out there...

Summer of Lemonade

Welcome back to my blog and apologies for my absence.

I am going to get back to posting more regularly
and to kick summer off right -
I am going to be posting a weekly lemonade recipe
for the entirety of the summer.

Each will start with this basic lemonade base
and build from there.

Most recipes will make 10-12 cups,
but vary by type.

Classic Lemonade:
* 1 1/2 cups lemon juice
* 1/4 cup sugar
* 5 cups water

Then add....

Watermelon Lemonade: Week #1
*Classic Lemonade
* 5 cups fresh watermelon juice

Raspberry Peach Lemonade: Week #2
*Classic Lemonade
* 3 Peaches (juiced)
* 1 Container of Fresh Raspberries (muddled)

Pineapple Lemonade: Week #3
*Classic Lemonade
* 1 Cup Pineapple Juice
* Squeeze of Lime

Mint Lime-Ade: Week #4
*Classic Lemonade
* 1 1/2 Cups Fresh Lime Juice
(Sub for Lemon in Classic Recipe)
* Few Sprigs of Garden Mint

Honey Lavender: Week #5
*Classic Lemonade (make this batch with no sugar)
* 2 Teaspoons honey
* Lavender Simple Syrup

Lavender Simple Syrup:
Combine 1/4 cup sugar with 1/4 cup water.
 Bring to a boil, then remove from heat.

Quote of the Day: 8.20.14

I don't know why,
but for some reason I just love this quote.

Hope you're loving this amazing August
weather on Long Island.

There have been record gorgeous temperatures
 for this time of year -- low humidity, mid 80's
 (we're talking major 'good hair day' weather)
and I am just soaking up the last of this summer sun.

Even more shocking than the weather,
next week is MY birthday (the 31st - I turn 31)
[insert 'Scream' emoji]
AND in other major Starbucks news,
it was announced the Pumpkin Spice Latte
is being released early due to cooler weather.

So much to love about both of those things.

ALSO - side note:

I am releasing a major haul tomorrow morning....

From Rachel's Kitchen: Homemade Toasted Coconut Gelato

Wanted to lighten things up for the summer,
so instead of making ice cream in my ice cream maker,
I decided to try my hand at gelato.

The main difference between ice cream and gelato
is the trade-off of heavy cream and half & half
for less fattening ingredients, like milk.
And coconut milk...
MMM!

Coconut Gelato Recipe:

(2) cans Coconut Milk (I used Goya)
(1) can Cream of Coconut
(1) cup 2% Milk
(1) small container Chobani Coconut Yogurt
Coconut Flakes (baking aisle of grocery store)

Directions:

1) Refrigerate all ingredients to get them as cold as possible
(with the exception of coconut flakes)

2) If your cans of coconut milk are cold enough,
the ingredients inside will separate.
Flip the can upside down and open.
You want to pour the heavy creamy contents on top
 into a bowl and discard the coconut water below.
Do this for both cans.

3) Stir can of cream of coconut well and pour into a bowl
with the thick creamy contents of both cans of coconut milk,
1 cup regular milk, and can of yogurt.
Stir well in a large mixing bowl.

4) Pour contents slowly into your ice cream maker
and let churn 25-35 minutes, until contents thicken.

5) While ice cream maker is churning,
pour 1/2 cup of coconut flakes onto a baking sheet
and bake 3-5 minutes on 350 degrees,
checking often (I burnt my first batch)
When its a light golden color,
remove from oven and transfer to plate to cool.
If you leave it on sheet, it will continue to cook!

6) Once cool, pour slowly into the ice cream maker
after at least 20 minutes of churning.

7) Transfer the ice cream canister
(mine pops right out of the maker)
to freezer and let harden at least 4-5 hrs before serving.
(I said 2 hrs in my video, but it wasn't quite there yet!)

Serve with a sprinkle of coconut on top
and enjoy!

The perfect summer treat...

xo,
Rach
