From Rachel's Kitchen: Honey Tangerines

Normally I don't write about fruit,
unless I have a super cool smoothie or something to post.

But I was stocking up on fruit
at the grocery store the other day
and was on a tropical fruit kick when I passed
the orange section and saw something called
"Honey Tangerines".

I'm obsessed with honey,
so naturally the name caught my attention.
The other night, I peeled one for a snack
before bed and fell into a
blissful citrus coma.

So sweet, so juicy, so delicious.

I did a little research and apparently their "peak"
season in Florida is January,
but apparently THESE honey tangerines
didn't get the memo because we're half way through
March and they were unbelievably sweet and juicy.
(So much so that I'm writing a post about them.
I've now entered a whole new realm of "loserdom")

So what the heck do you do with them?
EAT THEM [!!!]

Ha ha, but seriously,
they are so good on their own,
I would definitely recommend trying them on their own FIRST,
so you get the full flavor explosion.

Here are some other ideas,
for my little fruit-phobics out there!
(All pretty healthy, as you might guess)

1. MAKE A FRUIT SALAD

Dice up your favorite fruits, adding honey tangerines to the mix.
Throw in a Chobani (or any Greek) yogurt
and you have a pretty good breakfast situation on your hands.

2. BE A DOUBLE DIPPER

Dip the ends in dark chocolate + sea salt
(the bitterness will complement the super sweetness of the
honey tangerines for a little yin to your yang).

3.  MAKE A HONEY TANGERINE SPRITZER

I'm a huge fan of fruit spritzers in the summer.
Squeeze 1 or 2 honey tangerines
in either seltzer (I used grapefruit seltzer) or gingerale,
add a cute straw, sip + enjoy! :)

P.S And for the least caloric-intake choice of all,
you can always WEAR YOUR TANGERINE. ;)

When life hands you honey tangerines --
mix em, dip them, squeeze them, wear them.

xo,
Rach
