Beauty Review: St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser & Scrub

Hi Guys! I dont do this too often because makeup and beauty products are so dependent on individual taste, but when I find something good I cant remain silent (ha, ha) !!! Last week I was doing my weekly spending at CVS (dont you hate how you go in for deodorant and razors and leave with $50 of stuff you probably dont need. how does that happen, every time!?!) and I ran across some new products by St. Ives. I'm gonna be honest, I dont exfoliate enough. I had a facial at Massage Envy about a month ago (more on than in my next post) and the esthetician said my skin was in good shape (i.e no sun damage, no excessive dryness, etc) but that the pores on my nose were pretty clogged and I could easily solve this problem by exfoliating more often. The reason I dont exfoliate is because I dont like it. I go tanninng once a week to keep my skin clear and for a little glow and Ive always thought exfoliating would basically scrub my tan right off my face. The ones I've used in the past- like St. Ives Apricot Scrub, have been gritty and rough on my skin. Course scrubs like St. Ives Apricot Scrub have left a sour taste in my mouth about exfoliaters, but I think I am starting to change my mind...starting with this one. I found St. Ives Green Tea Cleanser & Scrub and I am a sucker for new products. The whole concept of "green tea" is for health and renewal - so that appealed to me. Next, I'm not gonna lie- I liked the packaging. Good marketing on the part of St. Ives helped reel me right in...I took the bait! I also love clear skin (who doesn't) and this line promised to clear blemishes and reduce redness. BOOM! I'm in!
In any case, I left with the Green Tea Scrub because I was in the market for an exfoliater (as per my esthetician's instructions) and I really really love it. The first thing I noticed is that the particles in the scrub were much much finer than the course particles in the Apricot line, so it isnt as rough on your skin. I've been using it every other day and I've really noticed a difference. I massage it on my skin in circular motions for a minute or so, then rinse with lukewarm water. After, my skin feels taunt and smooth, without being irritated or overdry. I haven't tried the cleanser you are supposed to use before the scrub, so I can't vouch for it, but I liked the scrub so much I probably will add it to my list of 'items i dont need' for my next overpriced CVS splurge!
Oh yeah, and it smells really really good!
Hope this helps...
Rachel
